CERF: Certification Model for the Key Competences of the European Reference Framework

Description:
CERF (Certification Standard for European Reference Framework Key Competences) is a two-year project (2011-2013) that aims to develop innovative educational methodologies and a curriculum for five of the eight key competences, as defined by the European Reference Framework (ERF: European Reference Framework).
In the context of the project, the products and deliverables expected to be developed will be used as useful tools for policy makers, as well as for education and training providers and learners, in order to make lifelong learning a reality for all in the context of a European knowledge-based society.
Activities:
More specifically, out of the eight core skills defined by the ERF, the CERF project will develop training methodologies and technical tools for the following five skills:
- Communication in a foreign language
- Digital competence
- Social and civic competences
- Citizenship and citizenship skills, civic and citizenship-related civic competences and citizenship and entrepreneurship
- Cultural knowledge and expression
For the competence ‘Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, No 7’ a certification template will be developed and made available in multimedia format.
Results:
The project also includes the development of a training curriculum and a comprehensive Trainers’ Package for Trainers for each of the five Key Competences.
A Multimedia Training Tool and a certification model for the Key Competency “Initiative and Entrepreneurship” will also be developed, actions which i-skills has undertaken because of its experience in the certification of qualifications and skills.

CERF is coordinated by the VET DIMITRA and involves 6 other organisations from 5 countries: Greece, England, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus and Spain.
